Research in analytic topology continues in the broad area of generalized metric spaces. The field of topology is similar to that of geometry in that objects exist in a spatial dimension and are analyzed from that point of view. More mathematically, for example, the problem of constructing a diffeomorphism between two manifolds of the same dimension is inherently global since locally two such manifolds are always diffeomorphic.

Geometry deals with quantitative properties of space, such as distance and curvature on manifolds. The SFS states that the result of a set-theoretic method is the "point-set" result of the usual set-theoretic definition of the operation (SFS 3.2.21.1). Topology rules can also be defined between subtypes of feature classes. He attempted to show that by adding one more round in the configuration to one of the legs, similar results exist regarding realizable configurations. This talk presents some of the the background and geometric ingredients of our proof, as well as recent progress, joint with Penka Georgieva, towards proving that a similar structure theorem holds for the real GW invariants of Calabi-Yau 3-folds with an anti-symplectic involution.
