Brass instruments require very little maintenance, but failure to do the few things that are needed will result in stuck slides, valves, etc, all of which make it hard to play the instrument and cost money to fix! Comes with three mouthpieces that have been adjusted to fit the receiver. This instrument is in very excellent condition and comes from a prominent pedigree. This is similar to a 4H, .485" bore with a solid copper bell. Brands like Bach Stradivarius, P Mauriat, and Yamaha offer instruments designed for students, teachers, practiced players, and accomplished professionals, all of which deliver that spectacularly unique and crisp tone audiences have come to expect from the brass family.

The trumpet and the cornet are in the same key, but the cornet provides a mellower sound that is somewhat easier to play.

If you're internet shopping for a used trombone, insist on seeing several high quality pictures and check the sellers rating if possible. While considering this instrument keep in mind that a case can be replaced and dents can almost always be fixed, as can a leaky water key. The same types of source also show that players who had long been associated with the trombone were transferred to other instruments. A saturn water key has been added, which I think is a great modification.

Mutes are used to soften and lower the sound from a brass instrument. The most notable was Arthur Pryor, who played with the Sousa Band and later formed his own. This particular NY6 might be one of the best I've ever played. I actually have a matched pair of horns available, identical instruments made at the same time. He is also a frequent substitute musician in Michigan, performing with the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Saginaw Bay Symphonies. This one is silver plated and it is a phenomenal player.
